Kern Baby
Another cultural day, the second this week. We went to Compton Verney, an impressive Georgian country house with its own large lake standing in 120 acres of Capability Brown designed parkland.
The house has a permanent collection of fine art plus Chinese and British Folk arts and crafts. At the moment they also have an exhibition of Canaletto's paintings of Venice and London and a photography display by Martin Parr of the people of Hebden Bridge during the years 1975 and 1980.
In the grounds there is an art installation of a giant straw figure known as Kern Baby. A kind of Wicker Man only this is a woman celebrating nature and the harvest.
This evening we went with Tom to Bella Italia to celebrate completing his university course. He's now job hunting and awaiting his results.
