Clackmannan Tower

Clackmannan Tower was built in the 14th century as a tower house for Sir Robert Bruce. It stands in a commanding position overlooking the River Forth  and with the Ochils as a background to the North.
I followed a walk today from Clackmannan to Alloa where there is another and bigger tower, well preserved and open to visitors though the National Trust(see extra photo)
The walk itself was pleasant in parts where the path was through some fine woodland but there were also some pavement stretches through housing estates in Alloa which were less attractive. Still a new walk and maybe with repeating some time.
