The Well Dressing retinues

In a Staffordshire village where our daughter and her family live they have a natural spring well which is 'dressed' every May. A queen is selected from local girls and she has a retinue of attendants. Each year the current queen and the past two queens attend to watch the maypole dancing and other celebrations. Each year the queen chooses her own costume and colours which makes for a bright display
