Why use the road when you can use the footpath?

Why use the road when you can take a short cut along the footpath? Not an altogether uncommon sight, although, this driver slowed, his Toyota Crown, considerably when I pointed my camera at his vehicle.

From the road signs to the left of the picture you can clearly see for pedestrians and cyclists.

I believe India holds the crown for road deaths with China not too far behind. Strangely enough read a couple of years ago Switzerland, Sweden and the U.K. were the three with the lowest.

Where ever you be careful out there. (Isn't that what they used to say in Hill Street Blues?)
