What happened to our summer - it came and went yesterday!

Today, we met a lovely  family from Poland who we had not seen since 2012. We were delighted to welcome them to our home city and to catch up on their news. They have been based in London for a few years and are returning to Poland this summer.  They were determined to visit Scotland before their return home.

I was especially impressed that the parents were able to vote, before we met this morning, in Edinburgh, for the final round of the Polish Presidential Elections. Sadly such a facility is not available to British Ex Pats for elections, or referenda. 

I am always impressed by the great engagement shown in the democratic process by countries , formerly under the Soviet regime.

I think a similar re-engagement has been found in Scotland but is sadly not replicated, yet, across the whole of the United Kingdom.
