A bridge (from nowhere) to nowhere

I visited a friend of mine who is a farmer in a fairly remote and small village about half an hour away from my parents' home.

In the said village there used to live an (apparently more or less eccentric) man, who (among other things) built this small-ish pond on his property... and then built a fairly sturdy bridge over it (even though there was nothing on the other side of the pond) and equipped the bridge with electricity and a stove... because why not ?
