Keeping Watch

The sun came out for a few hours this morning so I didn't waste any time getting out with my camera.  It was so nice to be able to take a long walk with out getting wet.  This photo shows the male osprey watching over his mate who is in the nest sitting on 4 eggs.  I had better shots of him but I wanted to show the overhead light and camera and the bottom of the lightening rod that extends about 3 feet above the pole.  There are solar panels at the bottom of the pole that provide the power.  Last year the camera was struck by lightening and we lost the live feed before the chicks were hatched.  The camera has been working well this year.  Here is a link to see inside the nest.  The eggs could start hatching as soon as Tuesday!
And, just for the record, it's raining again. :-/
