Meeting a true champion.

Today we had a special event in our Judo club. We had a visit from one of Japan's female champions. She is former world champion and 2 x silver world medalist Tomoko Fukumi. She has won countless titles at the highest level. This is the equivalent of having someone like Paula Radcliffe or Kelly Holmes visit a running club. Tomoko took time to speak to and help all the kids and was so humble. She explained how she never gave up even in defeat and how working hard is the only way to achieve your goals. I admire the Japanese culture so much. We could learn a lot from them.

It was a momentous occasion not least of all because both of my boys almost smiled in this photo!
