Jurassic

We've had our second tourist day today and given we managed to fit in the volcano yesterday, we decided to head up north to the Waipi'o valley, followed by Pololu (blip). The latter was the opening scene for Jurassic Park and it really did feel like anything could walk out of the rainforest.  We took the descent down to the coast; had a walk along the black volcanic sand; and were lucky again with the clouds clearing and having much sunshine in the stunning surroundings.

We revisited a coffee shop that we really liked yesterday in Waimeo.  After Hawi, and having eaten a mango ice cream smoothie while watching a gold dust day gecko with blue eye shadow (very sweet); buying a little bit of art; and indulging in a necklace pendant, we headed for home. We've seen a few bits of wildlife over the last couple of days including a number of mongooses (including a family), an owl on the way home last night and a strange as yet unidentified mammal again last night, crossing the road.

Tonight, we've enjoyed a fabulous Thai meal and are now in bed after watching the sun setting and some longboat racing from the jetty. I've caught up with my diary and we're both very much looking forward to getting back into the ocean tomorrow.
