Massachussets Oak
In the fall of 2010, on a visit with Fiona to Cape Cod, I collected and then brought back to the UK (legally I hope!) some acorns, and planted them in pots.
As a result we now have two Oak saplings, both in their fourth summer.
They have just come into full leaf, and this is the stronger of the two - now topping out at an impressive six feet tall and very healthy.
This tree is the sort of thing that one plants for the distant future.
I shall never see this tree in its prime, but others shall, and I hope that it will please them - and perhaps wish that they may remember it as "Jim's Oak Tree".
