On Ilkley Moor b'ah tat
Today I took my youngest (pictured here) up to Ilkley Moor. He had a great time. There are loads of rocks by the Cow and Calf, so he was clambering up just about every one. The picture is taken from the top of one.
For those who don't know - the title is from a local song:
Wheear 'ast tha bin sin' ah saw thee, ah saw thee?
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
Wheear 'ast tha bin sin' ah saw thee, ah saw thee?
Wheear 'ast tha bin sin' ah saw thee?
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
Tha's been a cooartin' Mary Jane
Tha's bahn' to catch thy deeath o' cowd
Then us'll ha' to bury thee
Then t'worms'll come an' eyt thee up
Then t'ducks'll come an' eyt up t'worms
Then us'll go an' eyt up t'ducks
Then us'll all ha' etten thee
That's wheear we get us ooan back
The b'ah tat bit (which gets written bar tat - but I was taught b'ah tat), means, without a hat. And we were without hats today. Although it wasn't that cold - just a bit breezy.
