The Bushcrafters Return!

Neil really did get up at 6am and go off on his 1984 classic racing bike, to the coast, on a preplanned route. Heading out of the village he set his sights on Happisburgh which he did in an hour. The wind was not behind him as he headed back up the coast road, and from Cromer he abandoned his idea to go on to Sheringham, and arrived back home arriving at 10am exactly. He had cycled 38+ miles. Karen & I, on the other hand, were still in our pjs, chatting over a cup of tea!

I did at least reward him with a full cooked breakfast (a career as b&b host beckons?) even sending him down to collect the egg that had just been laid, as a special treat. God I'm a good host ;-)

We were half way through coffee at mid day when another good friend from Linton dropped in for a visit. Claire & Alasdair enjoyed a chat and coffee with us, before heading back to Norwich. It was so nice for me to see familiar faces. I probably talked an awful lot this weekend, but they all know me well, and will have been expecting nothing less.

Eventually it was time for Karen & Neil to head back to Cambridge, & as they got into their car, the wanderers returned. So a very brief catch up, and a promise to see them soon, and it was 2 out 2 in.

Jon & Henry reeked of smoke...& headed to the shower. Clean they regaled me with stories of their exciting weekend. They came third in a cooking competition, along the lines of ready steady cook where 6 teams had to get a fire going to cook on (Jon did it with a bow drill which got them more points) and make a meal from their ingredients (a whole but dead pigeon, carrot, onion & potato)

Jon also got 100% in a bark identification competition, with 21 different trees to identify from just the bark, he was - at the point he left the show today- the only one to achieve 100%, but there was the rest of the day today for other competitors. The winner wins a rucksack....he is keeping his fingers crossed!

After a nice roast dinner we get a whole 12 hours together before we go our separate ways again tomorrow morning.

Roll on July - we've had enough of living in two houses!
