Bank holidays: they're still a novelty to me.
Scotland has a system with there are city/region holidays, "normal" public holidays and bank holidays (but not the same ones as in England, at least not always) which in practice meant that people usually didn't bother taking the public holidays and saved the days up for their main holidays instead. Not so in England: bank holidays are rather religiously observed as far as I can tell. It's still an odd feeling to me to not be at work on a bank holiday.
As it's also half term we took ourselves off to Greenwich to have a look at the Cutty Sark, Naval College, Naval Museum, meridian, playparks, river buses and the Greenwich foot tunnel.
The Naval College was well worth a visit and we'll be going back at some point; the chapel (main picture) and painted hall were very impressive, as was the history of JASON.
A few alternatives for today including everyone trying on a captain's cap, +3/3 riding a sheep, +2/3 flinging herself about and the trip home.
