Last Friday I was training a new person at Subway. I tried my best all night to observe them carefully and make sure that they were doing everything correctly; I wanted to make that person a master at making subs. When we were proofing the bread (letting it sit to rise), we noticed that we over proofed it, and we needed to take the bars out in order to move it into the oven without popping it. The bread turned out perfect and I only popped one of the loaves. When I attempted to get it out of the oven I found myself multitasking as I tried to watch the new person, talk to Dakota and try to get the bread out. I*t ended in disaster. The bread was too big to fit out of the oven, and when I pulled out the one tray, another try came out with it and I attempted to save the bread, resulting in me catching it in my arm. The bread is safe, but my arm has seen better days. This picture is when I first received the wound. I didn’t think it was all the bad at first, but it has gotten much worse, and I didn’t want to show the nasty picture of it. My co-worker put a tomato on it directly afterward, I thought this was strange, but I went along with it for five minutes, until I got dirty looks from the one manager. I then proceeded with cold water, and now I have a prescription cream for the nasty burn and it is not getting better. I’m just hoping that it doesn’t get any worse, and I am very fortunate that it didn’t burn me worse than it has.
