Calum's Road

Today we took the ferry from Skye across to the Island of Raasay - there were only 4 other cars on the ferry so we were hopeful of a peaceful drive and in fact did not see another vehicle till we reached the northern tip of the island.
One of the main reasons for our trip to this very remote Scottish island was to see Calum's road. The story of Calum MacLeod's amazing achievement is the subject of a delightful book entitled Calum's Road and there is also a lovely tune of the same name which we play at my accordion classes.
His story of how and why he spent the best part of the last 20 years of his life building a road on his own is well worth reading!
