The colours of the beach
(There is a reason for choosing this pic, I promise - not just to gloat about another beach visit!) On this particular day, we visited the Gemeente Museum, which currently has exhibitions by Anton Corbijn (the Dutch artist/photographer/film director) and the Hague School of artists. Since moving here, I have become aware of the latter and love, in particular, their paintings that depict 19th century beach scenes. I think what I love the most, though, are the colours they use - very much the soft, muted colours of the shore. Funnily enough, the photos I then took of Grace later that afternoon, as she played by the water, remind me of some of the paintings - the blues and golds and the boat in the background. A modern day take on them, perhaps (brightened up by Grace's vivid t-shirt and leggings!)
