A Photo of a Photo

I am just about to send a copy of this photograph to my cousin. It is my grandmother and grandfather from Luib, Skye. My grandfather died around 1935 when my own father was only 12 years of age.

My grandfather was a sailor and worked on Sir William Beardmore's 450 ton steam yacht Zaza for a while.

What has just struck me about my grandfather's picture is the cross on his watch chain. Is it a medal or simply a design of the time?
