St James's

If you go to a reception at a Royal palace, as we did this evening, you have to surrender any cameras and camera-phones at the door. So my cunning plan for a posh blip from inside St James's Palace, just off The Mall, was thwarted. Instead, here is a view of it from the outside. Not quite the same, I know, but oh well.

We were there for the launch reception of the London Motor Show, due to be staged in Battersea Park next May. There were guests from many of the motor manufacturers attending the launch, and the evening was hosted by Prince Michael of Kent, who is the new show's patron.

I'm really glad that a motor show is returning to London. There are major car shows in Paris, Frankfurt, Geneva, so I reckon London certainly merits one too.
