Pyrrhocoris apterus
Pyrrhocoris apterus
At last I got this one.
I saw a few in the past 3 months but never got a decent shot, mainly because they are very easily scared or they were busy with procriation.
It's quite a funny feeling to know the latin name of so many species now, and for the majority of them I don't have a clue about how they are named in Portuguese (if they have a name, other than "bug"....)
I'm not sure if this is what you call firebug in the UK...
I keep looking at every patch of peppermint I see.. I would love to find a peppermint bug and I know they exist in Portugal... they are beautiful.. shiny and green like the glass of a Heineken beer....
