Serissa, 4 years old

  This tree is a Serissa.  It is pre-bonsai because it has 1. recently been styled,  2. it is wired to help it grow in shape and direction,  3. it is potted in bonsai aggregate.  The tree is owned by a relatively new bonsai enthusiast that had a vision when she looked at the tree.  Now the goal is to make a miniature tree that could be seen out in the wild full grown.  Some trees that 20 years to grow from pre-bonsai to bonified bonsai.  Never fear, though.  These are living, growing creations of art, ever changing and adapting to their environment.  And so are the people who labor over them and nip one leaf at a time to create such a beauty.  It is truly, a labor of love.
