A Heron with Attitude
Mr Seagull was being a total nuisance, dogging the footsteps of this heron when suddenly the heron turned, exploded his feathers erect and charged at the gull - who promptly took off.
I have never seen this play out before. I have seen a tail wind make the feathers flick up, but have never seen raised feathers used to intimidate another, with herons. Usually they all rub along together nicely.
As an extra, I have included a pic of a juvenile little black shag. I love the look he is giving me. A "what are you staring at" look.
