Secrets.

If you look closely at the photo you will see a small opening behind the fern. This leads to a secret room in the cellar of Clare's cousin's house on the outskirts of Paris.

During the war the house was looked after by the man who later bought it and later still sold it to her cousin. The man was the town treasurer and with his minor position of power came minor privileges. One of which was entertaining the occupying German officers. Unbeknownst to them, while they were swilling fine brandy and chomping cigars, our man was passing information on to London via a direct phone line and hiding Jews in the tiny cellar room beneath their feet.

Its amazing, the little unsung stories of ordinary heroism that surround us.

Wifi is tricky here so my involvement with blip is difficult till I'm back in blighty.
