Stawberries in waiting!
Apologies for another plant blip.
Out to lunch today and these very healthy strawberry plants were in the garden.
Had an interesting morning with the Genealogy Group. Managed to find newspaper reports about my late mother and father in law, when they were Secretary and Matron of a hospital in Barnstaple.
The hospital had been the workhouse until the introduction of the NHS in 1948. There was a report of the trial of a Polish 'inmate' who was a resident from the days of the workhouse. He was charged with attempted murder when he stabbed my mother in law when she was trying to help him. He was frustrated with the language problem. The knife was 1/2 inch away from her heart and I remember she had the scar from the wound all her life.
