Keswick

When the Minx and I decided to go away this weekend and were weighing up our options, I'm not sure either of us thought we'd end up in Keswick. But the Minx wanted some photos of the lake for a series of drawings she's doing and me, well, I'm easy.

Funnily enough, I was here a couple of weeks ago, dropping Dan off for Scout camp, but I was more focussed on him and finding the hall where he needed to be, so I didn't pay much attention to the town, but my abiding impression of the place, which I've visited sporadically since my teens, is that it's a bit dull. Just another market town.

Except, actually, it's rather nice, these days. Lots of interesting shops - as opposed to high street chains - and loads of restaurants that looked like they deserved a visit. As it was, though, this evening the Minx had set her heart on a curry and very good it was, too. Pleasantly full, we strolled back to our hotel, afterwards, peering in the shop windows and making plans for tomorrow evening.
