Guernsey's new outfall installation is coming to fruition and the next step requires a very powerful excavator and here it is arriving on site.
Because Guernsey has strict axle weight limits for commercial vehicles, to avoid damage, the machine, a 75 Ton Caterpillar had to be dismantled and delivered on 4 separate trailers.
The first bit, the actual body arrived overnight and we delivered to the site at 0400 this morning to avoid traffic.
The remainder arrived on site over the morning and the contractors spent the day rebuilding it for use on the beach.  This very serious machine is about 2 weeks old and cost around £250K....very expensive toy for the boys.
Amazing it is only here for about 8 days and then will have to be dismantled and shipped out again.

Photo 3....Moved to the beach and the excavator starts to materialise with the help of a mobile crane and a small tele handler (operated by the owner, a local farmer)
