Calgary Tower

I learnt a lot from our visit to the Calgary Tower and its 360 deg. viewing panorama.

First impressions weren't good, but here on our second day we found out some interesting information. After finding Calgary all too full of office towers, we discovered that within those blocks there was a whole network of shopping malls and restaurants linked by glass bridges, so in bad weather the workers can walk for miles without having to step outside.

Calgary was also the venue for the 1988 Winter Olympics, when Team Jamaica took part in the bobsleigh event, which inspired the very engaging film 'Cool Runnings'. I must watch it again and see if I can recognise anything. Also Eddie the Eagle participated here and, surprisingly, was taken to heart by the Canadian people.

This was the end of our adventure in Alaska and the Rockies. Spectacular!
