NOSTALGIA...
"Corica", the best coffee shop in town according to me.
Only discovered it because they were roasting as I passed by the corner of the rue du Marché aux Poulets. The aroma transported me back instantaneously to Head Street, Colchester circa 1953 - I was 12 years old & I fell in love with the wickedly sweet funky smell of roasting coffee.
That shop was two or three doors down from Sainsbury's where the assistants wore boaters & they hacked half-pounds of salty New Zealand butter out of great wooden tubs - weighed them on beautiful brass scales, slapped them into shape with wooden butter pats & wrapped them in grease-proof paper.
