There and back again

Soussons Plantation

We left Moretonhampstead with blue skies and when we got back from our walk it was still sunny but up here on the moor the clouds were down on the tops and driving rain so we opted for a low level walk today through Soussons Plantation which is a Forestry Commission plantation with a large amount of timber which are 40years plus and are now being cut down. This area here was cleared and replanted a few years ago but these trees are already getting quite tall. This footpath sign points to Hamel Down which is a long ridge which rises to nearly 600 meters up into the mist so not for us today.

This afternoon we are off to visit Emma and the grandchildren over at Ashburton and have our tea with them. The past couple of nights we have lit a fire, not because it was that cold, but because it looked so miserable outside.
