Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff
After the mix up on Thursday, thinking it was my brother wanting house photo's done, I finally made it to my parents house as the weather was better today. I did the internal photo's and a few aerial ones for them as they've a big plot and it has potential for re-development to three or four detached houses. It didn't take long, and if it helps them sell then it'll be a good thing. The house and gardens are far too large for them but it's been the family home since about 1976 so it's hard realisation that they need something smaller.
A friend who's a big fisherman wanted some aerial pictures of Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff. From what I can gather his fishing club will be making it their new home and wanted it for their website. It's a very large wharf and difficult to get it all in one image. I could get one from several hundred feet high but even then it'd be looking down, and from experience they are better just slightly elevated.
I have edited two facing in different directions. The blip one is the view of Atlantic Wharf facing Cardiff Bay. You can see Flat Holme and Steep Holme islands in The Bristol Channel, the bay and barrage and even the top of The Millennium Centre, plus many other buildings.
The extra photo shows Atlantic Wharf facing towards Cardiff City centre. Both nice views and not much to choose between them.
Whilst there I saw an absolute whopper of a fish, so I can see it's potential for a fishing club.
Atlantic Wharf is in the southern area of Cardiff. It is primarily an area of new houses and apartments located on the west side of the disused Bute East Dock. It also includes a number of refurbished dock warehouses, modern hotels, and Cardiff Councils City Hall. It was constructed in the 1850s and opened by the 12-year-old Third Marquess of Bute on 14 September 1859. The new dock was 1,310 m in length and up to 152m wide. It was surrounded by railway sidings and large warehouses. Eventually the Bute East Dock was closed in 1970. The railway sidings were removed.
