Doors day 5
My husband wanted to into the Canongate area again today to do some more preparation for the walking tours he will be guiding. I took the opportunity to take photos of two very famous sets of doors that are across the street from each other and very distinctive in their own right. I couldn't decide between the two so I posted the doors to the Scottish Parliament as my photo of the day and the doors of the Queen's Gallery in front of the Queen's Residence in Scotland, Holyrood Palace as my extra photo.
The Scottish Parliament Building was very controversial at the time it was being built back in 2001/2002 when I was first living in Scotland on a working holiday. It cost a lot of money to build, a lot more than anticipated. It was designed by a Spainish Architect who died before the completion of the building. It has a very Mediterranean feel to it and many visitors come to marvel at this design innovation. The doors are interesting, though it was hard to distinguish them from the glass windows next to them.
The Queen's Gallery displays artwork from the Royal Collection Trust. The doors are beautiful especially when the gold glints in the evening sunlight.
