Corpus Christi...
...a festival of flowers.
Every year for the past 100 years, Arundel Cathedral in West Sussex, opens its doors to the public, allowing them to come and see the 'carpet of flowers' in celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi.
Each year the carpet has different themes, all which have celebrated or remembered a significant event in the world that year.
This year there are three themes to the carpet, the first being the jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, the second being the London 2012 olympics and the third being 100 year anniversary of the sinking of The Titanic, where over 1500 people lost their lives.
The cathedral itself is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen, with stunning stonework, statues, stained glass windows and a magnificent balcony organ. However, it was made more beautiful by the carpet of flowers and amazing floral displays in all areas of the cathedral...I will never forget the smell of a single red rose beside Jesus Christ, it was breathtakingly beautiful.
