Wonderland in Sunderland

Had a very long but enjoyable day out with Mme A, attending a graphic novel expo in Sunderland. Got to hear talks by Steve Bell and Posy Simmonds, whose work in the Guardian I remember so well from my teenage years. But best were Paul Gravett on the history of the graphic novel and the great Bryan Talbot on how to write a graphic novel, notably "The tale of One Bad Rat" and his tour de force "Alice in Sunderland" which is why we were all in that city.

In the evening we ate seafood in Newcastle which was full of rugby league supporters, as well as others out on the lash.
