One year old today

I blipped this exact balloon one year ago today as Elbows lay curled up on a trolley in A&E. The balloon has lasted this long, propped up with the utensils in a jug in the kitchen.

When the 2 paramedics came for him in the middle of the night, I suggested a ruptured appendix. They didn't laugh at me but they did stare at me and then ignore me. Lots of mistakes were made by hospital staff and his gangrenous appendix wasn't  removed until he'd been in their care for just over 34 hours.

Looking back, we have a lot to be grateful for.
