Cactus Flower
It’s a rainy cool day here so I tried to get some shots of the squirrels and Blue Jays from the kitchen window, but they all turned their backs on me.
Finally, I took multiple shots of this tiny cactus flower.
I read an article a few days ago about focus stacking macro images in PS so I thought I would give this a try. I just wanted to walk through the procedure and see how it went with the 10 shots I took, using various points in focus.
The cactus is only about 2 inches tall and the red flower adds another 1.5 inches, so you get an idea of how small it is. I took the shots handheld, indoors on the kitchen counter next to the window, with my new 32 mm f/1.8 Zeiss lens. (Oh how I love this lens). The focus stacking process took a while and this was the result. I never expected this to be my blip for today, but I have to say, for a first attempt, I was pleased with the result even though I can see that I still missed a couple of focus points.
