Death From Above

I'm sure that this Re-shouldered Hawk has a nest full of young somewhere near. She has been visiting our pond regularly each morning and late afternoon. Frogs are what she is hoping to grab and they are staying out of her sight. Poor things, hawks hunting them during the day and owls at night. And the snakes...anytime! Everyone is on edge, the wrens move into their 'ultra-warning' mode, the squirrels become subdued and quiet, even the larger fish in the pond don't venture out to eat when I toss in their favorite food. Every creature understands that babies must be fed! And Life goes on...
