Triffids?

Although still breezy it was much warmer than of late. Following Pilates I decided on a bike ride. Despite being a circular ride I seemed always to be cycling into the wind.

Richard had tipped me off regarding an unusual plant growing on the side of a pond. I haven't a clue as to what it might be. All suggestions gratefully received.
