The Caged City
Today was a day of meetings. I came a slightly different route on the way home - trying to avoid traffic. This is a view of the city taken while I was sat in a traffic queue. Immediately next to the road is this piece of waste ground. I'm sure those better at local history than me would be able to wax lyrical about what was there before - I only know its fenced off and sits empty - which is always a shame. Across, you can see Tetley Brewery Wharf, which was, until relatively recently, a Tetley Brewery, but is now an art gallery / event place. Some of the buildings are very modern, others less so. This is very much an area which has been regenerated, but there are still some old, disused and unloved buildings tucked away in the proud modern ones.
I liked the way the fence made it look as if the city itself is some sort of caged animal, ready to pounce on the unsuspecting visitor who is less familiar with the ways of city life. It really can be a jungle out there. And given that the domestic cat is the lion of the city.... does that make this a Cat's Eye View? Bit of a long shot - but it is WideAngle Wednesday?
