Lake Quinault

The historic Lake Quinault Lodge 'site' dates back to just before the calendar turned 1900. In its current form it charges 5 star hotel rates. For us it was a drive-by and walk around. The clouds represent the ever present moisture on the Washington Olympic Penninsula which has the highest bio-mass in the world, which means trees. But like most of the northwest this past winter, a lot less snow and moisture, echoing the California drought to the south. The fire season this year for the NW could be intimidating.

At the top of the Olympic Penninsula is Port Angeles. We are staying at Eden By The Sea nearby, with views of Canada's Vancouver Island across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north, and the Olympic Mts. out our back window to the south.

Excuse the lack of commenting, it's check in time and the Marques de Caceres is flowing. Last night we had a wonderful Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Oregon. Have to laugh after the second glass of Marques. This Spanish white says denomination de origen.
