Thousand year old trees

In this isolated part of the Kruger Park there are trees that are hundreds and thousands of years old. I came across a Leadwood Tree with a 2 metre diameter. Considering the growth rate of these giants, that tree would be at least 1000 years old at half the size. This large Jackalberry may not be as old, but it was magnificent all the same. The temperature dropped dramatically as you stepped under its cover.
