Day 237 - Jaipur
Our first day in Rajasthan did not disappoint. Jaipur is big, messy and noisy, but once you get past that there is so much to see. This photo is of an enormous sun dial, one of the many pieces of apparatus in the Jantar Mantar, the observatory built by the king in Jaipur in the early 18th century. We also got a view of the pink city from a minaret, visited the city palace and looked round the Hawa Mahal, a palace with lots of tiny shuttered windows, so the ladies of the court could observe festivals in the streets without being seen.
