Capturing my Journey

the place to be

Pip has the right idea for today. After a good drenching on the morning dog walk she curled up in front of the stove with her drying rug on. Very lucky working dogs that don't have to live in kennels. Do you think they know they are spoilt? The morning dog walk involved rescuing on of my hoggs(last years ewe lambs) from bramble(blackberrie) bush. She and two others had got into a bit of land they shouldn't be in and she had become entangled in brambles. It did have to be the morning I offered to take all the dogs so had my husbands as well. Trying to encourage 9 dogs to stay whilst the hogg was running in circles like lunatic entangling herself more in brambles as I approached to get hold of her and get her out was hard work! They did stay reasonably well out of the way and I admit to tying my husbands keenest dog to a tree whilst I did it. Once out I have to convince them to stay when I let her go and she runs off to join her friends. Thankfully all went to plan.

Since I was in this bit of land I walked the perimeter fenceline to see how its holding up. Its a deer fence and it looked like the fencer didn't used barbed staples so a lot of the rylock is coming away from the posts by the wind. I found a bit where it is particularly bad and the deer are getting through. I will now walk that bit every day with a pocket full of staples and a hammer and start putting it back together before it falls down.

9c 20mph SSW heavy rain showers and overcast.
