Isle Of Wight Trip

Today was the day my brother and his wife to be were going to take hubby, myself, my sister and her husband to the isle of white for lunch on his boat ( which is actually his home ).

So we got on the boat.

Engines started off we went  Yay..............!

We had just got out of the harbour mouth and all was looking good, then all of a sudden everything changed the gearbox  decided that it didn’t want to work anymore.

So there we were just outside harbour mouth, with no way to control the boat, so dropping anchor my brother decided to have a quick look to see if he could make a quick repair.

No luck there, so on the phone to a friend to ask if he would tow us back in harbour.

For some reason the anchor my brother had dropped would not hold and we were drifting back into the harbour mouth a very busy shipping lane with very very big ships  eek.........!

Next thing we know  the coast guard turns up, also the harbour police with blue flashing lights and we were then towed safely back into the harbour.  Phew............!

All was not lost we all went for lunch on the lighthouse ship which is a boat that they have turned into a restaurant and had fish & chips with mushy peas.

So a scary but enjoyable day was had.
