Cruising......

With his bright yellow eye this little male scaup was cruising along, surrounded by reflections from native trees mingling with the leaves still with autumn colour.

Scaup are New Zealand's smallest ducks and only true diving ducks. They're sociable, non-aggressive in behaviour and relatively approachable. The Maori name is Papango, they're protected and endemic.
 
A visit to mum's to fix her phone, take the filters out of the heat pump for cleaning and spend some time chatting to R.

Hubby is in the kitchen making toasted sandwiches, wonderful to not have to cook :)
