Cove of Stan and Tahvo

as the place is called Tahvonlahti (Tahvo's Cove) in Finnish and Stansvik (Stan's Cove) in Swedish. I can't understand why the guy doesn't have the same name in both languages. One don't translate person's name. Also Stan to my knowledge is a regular name, but Tahvo has double meaning. It's also a name for slightly stupid, simple-minded person.

Disappointing photographs this morning. Evening sun has so much more depth to it than our day sun. The sunset was today at 4:01 am. The sunset will be at 22:38 pm. Length of the day in Helsinki is 18 h 37 min. In the northernmost point in Finland the sun hasn't set since May 16th and they are able to bask in sunlight for 74 days straight.

Few more weeks and we celebrate the main summer event Midsummer night festival. The longest day of the year. Well, it's actually 23rd or 24th, but the government relocated the holiday to Friday to save paid vacation days from companies. Now we only have one extra day. I think in Sweden they celebrate on the longest day. My son will be there to experience genuine Swedish Midsummer night festival this year. He'll be there studying Swedish to be better able to pass his finals next spring. I think the Swedes dance around Midsummer pole and most like sing. They tend to sing a lot when partying. If any Swedes read this, please correct me if I'm wrong.

In Finland people tend to eat good and drink a lot of spirits. Piss in the lake when being totally pissed, fall into the lake and end up drowned. If the weather is good, about 10+ people drown each year. The colder it is, the safer people are. But I do think I've seen headlines from Sweden too with the drowned count. Us Nordics tend to get a bit crazy when we experience any drop of heat and warm natural waters.
