Good Butterfly Weather
A female Brimstone butterfly, spotted through the sitting room window as she landed on an orchid. She's moved on by the time I'd dashed through to the kitchen and grabbed the camera but I just caught her hanging from this fragile Geranium pyrenaicum flower before she took off for pastures new.
We only see Brimstones in the garden very occasionally and even then they rarely oblige the photographer by sitting still for long. At least yesterdays Painted Lady was engrossed in gorging on nectar.
Todays extra is of a regular in the garden of late, a Holly Blue. Looking a bit tatty, this one buried itself inside a half open strawberry flower making it hard to get a good angle. Holly Blue, like Brimstone, rarely stay still for long ... at least that's the case when I see them!
