Wreckage
Crumpled like paper,
Twisted agony stilled,
Petrified in rust.
Met some old (as in I've known them a long time) friend and went to the Imperial War Museum today to see an exhibition of wartime fashions called "Fashion on the Ration", Have never been to the IWM before, never really fancied it, but I have to confess it was quite impressive.
While waiting for the others to arrive I had quite a long chat with one of the guides about this particular piece. It is the salvaged remains of an (empty) car caught in a bomb blast in Baghdad. The artist Jeremy Deller presented it as an art work called '5 March 2007'. A powerful reminder of what war can do, more info here
Seeing everyone was lovely, Fashion on a Ration was great, as was lazy lunch and cocktails at Cubana and a sunny stroll back to London Bridge, but somehow this image has imprinted itself on my mind today.
Extras: Big guns, the man who wasn't there.
Back blip: Vertebrae
Have really lost my blip mojo of late, not sure why, maybe it was the sensory overload of New York!! Anyway trying to get back to both photography and haiku ...
