The Portugeuse Canon
We had a bit of time to kill and decided to go up Carlton Hill. The boys were a lot more enthusiastic when I said there was a canon.
The brass canon was made in Portugal in the 1700s and ended up in Burma. The British captured it in 1886(?) when Burma was invaded and it was given to Edinburgh. It has some great ornate dolphins on it. These are kept highly polished - since they make handy handles.
