Happy circles

After making a crochet baby blanket for a friend last summer, I now have another pregnant friend. I'm looking forward to making something for her too. I've decided on the pattern and now I'm experimenting with sizes of hooks, colours and ways of joining the squares before I get started. This was a sample batch of squares that I used to try out about 5 different ways of joining. I think it is going to have to be sewing as the best method so that there won't be a ridge of stitches between the blocks. 

I had plenty of time to play around with wool and pins as all the men in the house were at the rugby at Twickenham. Apart from acting as chauffeur to take them to the station, I had a peaceful afternoon with crochet and the ironing.
