Chrome Hill

A bit of an epic this weekend: we managed 37 miles along Cycle Route 6 yesterday afternoon (that’s as far as the line of the old Derby-Sandiacre Canal just beyond Borrowash and back) and today we reinstated the double-climb up Chrome Hill and High Whieldon, near Longnor, that we swerved last week because of the weather. It was probably a good decision, with hindsight, as the high winds atop the limestone ridge of Chrome Hill in particular made the going slightly precarious anyway even on an otherwise bright and sunny day. The camera battery gave up the ghost after a couple of shots but luckily one of them was okay, colour notwithstanding (though Beck pulled out her iphone to fill the blip-breech if necessary, so don’t be surprised if this shot suddenly changes to one of two sheep sheltering under a limestone arch at some random point in the next few days when she gets around to emailing it to me…)
