Heather's Island
It's taken me days to take these because of high tides and the swollen river because of endless rain.
A fellow blipper mentioned that her daughter searches for islands to own. This one may be going a begging. A friend needed permission to get rid of knotweed on the island. The probable landowners said they didn't think they owned it, or at best weren't sure. It used to be tenanted for grazing, but that hasn't happened in decades, and the recent tenant was our former Member of Parliament, who died suddenly last week. He was a very good chap.
It's very beautiful and wild and likely to stay that way. Alderwood on flood plain is really pretty rare nowadays.
It floods several times a year, so it's useless for building. There is no access and it will get more awkward because a flood wall is going to get built on the other side of the river.
So, Heather, you may as well claim it until somebody else comes along.
If you want to find it on Google Earth it's near Fort William at 56deg 49' 57.24"N, 5deg 5' 31.70" W.
